Margarita Šniutytė-Daugėlienė, National Member for Lithuania, was elected Eurojust Vice-President on 28 June 2022. Ms Šniutytė-Daugėlienė has been representing the Lithuanian judiciary at Eurojust since 2019 and will serve a mandate of four years with immediate effect.

Ms Šniutytė-Daugėlienė said: 'I thank my colleagues in the Eurojust College for their trust. Eurojust plays a vital role in addressing the challenges criminal activities pose in the European Union and the world: organised crime, fraud, crimes against the environment, the horrors of trafficking in human beings and core international crimes, to name just a few. Our Agency is proof that with cross-border judicial cooperation these and similar issues can be tackled, and justice can be done. I sincerely appreciate the responsibility I am entrusted with'.
Ms Šniutytė-Daugėlienė began her legal career as a public prosecutor in the Regional Prosecutor's Office of Klaipeda, where she worked for 13 years, dealing with international legal cooperation and the analysis of prosecution policy, as well as conducting and supervising criminal investigations. In 2012, she was promoted to Chief Public Prosecutor of the 2nd Criminal Prosecution Division at the Regional Prosecutor's Office of Klaipeda. In 2016, Ms Šniutytė-Daugėlienė was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General. In 2019, she became Lithuania's National Member at Eurojust.
Background
Eurojust is the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation, with a mission to bring together prosecutors and judges from across the EU and beyond to effectively tackle all forms of serious cross-border crime.
Eurojust's Presidency comprises its President and two Vice-Presidents, elected from and by the National Members (so called College). The President represents the Agency, oversees meetings and directs and monitors Eurojust's activities and management. The Vice-Presidents carry out duties entrusted to them by the President and are deputizing him when necessary. In October 2017, the College elected Ladislav Hamran, National Member for the Slovak Republic, as its President. In November 2020, he was re-elected for a second term. The National Member for Slovenia, Boštjan Škrlec was elected Vice-President in December 2020.
