On 2 October, Eurojust Vice-President José de la Mata attended the opening session of the 17th meeting of Public Prosecutors, hosted by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Kuwait. His attendance underscores Eurojust's commitment to strengthen international cooperation against global crime, particularly with its GCC partners. On the sidelines of the event, Eurojust held bilateral meetings with the Attorney Generals of the GCC states.

The GCC, comprising of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is a vital partner in the fight against transnational organised crime. In May 2025, Eurojust hosted a two-day meeting with GCC representatives to further enhance cooperation and promote international justice.

The Agency has made it a strategic priority to strengthen its ties with regional networks as well as international organisations and unions, such as the GCC. These organisations play an increasingly important role in facilitating international judicial cooperation. By partnering with designated contact points within these organisations, Eurojust can establish direct lines of communication with member states, enabling seamless cooperation on specific cases and enhancing overall collaboration.

Building on this strategic priority, Eurojust is actively engaged in fostering partnerships with GCC countries to tackle the growing threat of transnational organised crime. Vice-President de la Mata's attendance at the 17th meeting of Public Prosecutors served as a tangible expression of Eurojust's pledge to collaborative action with GCC counterparts, with the shared goal of creating a safer and more just global community. The cooperation between Eurojust and the GCC has been supported by the CTJUST project.
