The Guidelines on the use of data protection clauses in the context of a JIT agreement involving third countries or international organisations, prepared by the Eurojust Data Protection Office in cooperation with the JITs Network, provide practical guidance on the inclusion and use of Data Protection Clauses in JIT agreements.

The Guidelines aim to assist practitioners in ensuring compliance with the applicable data protection framework when exchanging operational personal data with third countries or international organisations.

They include proposed Data Protection Clauses that may be incorporated into JIT agreements and explain when and how these clauses may be used, particularly in situations where appropriate data protection safeguards need to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

To facilitate their practical use, the JITs Network Secretariat has also prepared an executive summary and separate checklist, providing practitioners with a concise overview of the Guidelines and practical steps on the use of the proposed Data Protection Clauses.
