A delegation of Montenegrin prosecutors, including the Heads of High and Basic Prosecution Offices from across the country, visited Eurojust on 22–23 September 2026 as part of an exchange focused on strengthening practical judicial cooperation with EU Member States and other international partners.
The programme provided an overview of Eurojust’s role and its cooperation with non-EU countries, with particular attention to the role of Liaison Prosecutors, Joint Investigation Teams and the support provided by the Western Balkans Criminal Justice Project to Montenegrin authorities. The delegation also met with several Eurojust teams, including those working on economic crime, trafficking in human beings and migrant smuggling, organised crime, data management and EMPACT as well as with EU network Secretariats such as the EJOCN. A practical simulation of a Coordination Centre further familiarised participants with Eurojust’s operational support to complex cross-border investigations. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange expertise, strengthen professional networks and develop closer cooperation between Montenegro and Eurojust.
