Key discussions focused on strengthening Eurojust’s partnership with the Iraqi National Center for International Judicial Cooperation (NCIJC), Iraq’s central authority for international judicial matters. The visit included high-level meetings with the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation, and EU Heads of Missions in Baghdad, emphasising institutional alignment and means of collaboration.

A workshop on international judicial cooperation addressed best practices, challenges, and opportunities for deeper coordination. The mission also facilitated direct exchanges between the NCIJC and two prosecutors of the Eurojust-supported joint investigation team into crimes against Ezidi victims in Syria and Iraq, exploring practical avenues for advancing investigations. Iraqi judicial officials also were introduced to the Genocide Prosecution Network at Eurojust and its mechanisms for facilitating cross-border cooperation in core international crime cases.

The visit was supported by the CTJUST project, which has played a key role in fostering judicial cooperation between the EU and Iraq. The mission underscored a commitment to long-term partnership in delivering justice for victims of atrocity crimes.
