The 47th Regular Meeting of the European Judicial Network (EJN) took place on 11-12 February 2026 in The Hague, bringing together EJN Contact Points from EU Member States, EU candidate countries and potential candidates, as well as from EJN associated countries.
The EJN Regular Meeting is a plenary meeting held once a year in The Hague, as provided for in Article 6 of Council Decision 2008/976/JHA of 16 December 2008 on the European Judicial Network. Its purpose is to discuss key developments in judicial cooperation in criminal matters and the involvement of the EJN in this area.
Over the two days, participants exchanged on updates from EU Member States and partner countries, providing an overview of recent developments relevant to judicial cooperation in criminal matters. These exchanges allowed Contact Points to share information on current issues and ongoing work within the Network.
Discussions also focused on the EJN’s role in a number of ongoing EU initiatives. These included, in particular, the revision of the Eurojust Regulation, the e-evidence package and activities related to judicial training. Cooperation with EU institutions was also addressed as part of these exchanges.
Judicial cooperation with third countries featured on the agenda, including exchanges related to regions such as Latin America and the Caribbean and the Western Balkans. These discussions reflected the EJN’s cooperation beyond the European Union and its engagement with partner countries and judicial networks.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to exchange views on the future priorities, governance and activities of the EJN, including planning for 2026.
The exchanges reflected the breadth of the EJN’s work and its role in supporting judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
