Philip Galea Farrugia is the National Member for Malta (since July 2017). Having obtained his Doctorate Degree in Law from the University of Malta in 2001, Dr. Galea Farrugia set up his private law practice in Valletta, where he worked in a number of legal fields and appeared before a wide array of courts and tribunals. In 2010 he joined the Office of the Attorney General in Malta where he furthered his specialisation in criminal law and prosecution, and was subsequently promoted to Senior Counsel to the Republic. Over the years he has led the prosecution in numerous high profile criminal trials, and represented the Office of the Attorney General and the Government of Malta in various national and international fora and conferences concerning criminal justice and prosecution. In October 2013 he was appointed Assistant Attorney General, where he headed the Criminal Law and Prosecution Department for a number of years. In January 2020 he was appointed Deputy Attorney General, a post he holds to date.
Maria Baldacchino is the Deputy National Member for Malta. Dr Baldacchino graduated in law in November 2018. In September 2019, she received her advocate’s warrant. Between February 2019 and December 2019, she worked with the Ministry of Justice, Culture and Local Government, and was primarily dealing with the transposition of directives into national law. Dr Baldacchino joined the Office of the Attorney General in January 2020 and was assigned to the Criminal Law Department, focusing mainly on matters related to the International Cooperation in Criminal Affairs Unit.
