The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) is the European Union agency responsible for managing EU trademarks, registered Community designs, Geographical Indications, European and international cooperation in the field of intellectual property, as well as the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights. Through a single application, EUIPO provides intellectual property protection across all Member States of the European Union, ensuring that trademarks and designs are safeguarded under a unified system.

In March 2021, Eurojust and the European Union Intellectual Property Office signed a Service Level Agreement to boost EU-wide enforcement for intellectual property and provide a more cohesive and robust response to IP infringements.

This collaboration between EUIPO and Eurojust demonstrates a shared commitment to ensuring a consistent and robust response to intellectual property crime across the European Union. While intellectual property crime (IPC) is often regarded a victimless offense, it has far-reaching implications for economies, the environment, and consumer well-being. IPC not only results in significant revenue losses but also contributes to other cross-border, organised criminal activities such as fraud, public health issues, cybercrime and money laundering through illegal profits from the importation and sale of counterfeit, substandard and pirated products within the EU.

The IPC Project at Eurojust aims to bolster judicial action against counterfeiting, piracy, and other intellectual property crime. The Project provides a wealth of online tools, databases, resources, and expertise to support the law enforcement and judicial professionals in protecting the citizens of the EU from the threats of intellectual property crime and its consequences.
