Eurojust regularly invites practitioners from national authorities, inter-governmental organisation, independent university or research organisation or the public sector in the EU Member States to work as Seconded National Experts (SNEs). These experts add value in numerous ways, offering knowledge and experience in their specialised areas and fostering cooperation between Eurojust and EU judicial authorities. In return, the secondment is an opportunity for experts to develop new skills and insights that will benefit their home authorities.

As an SNE, you will remain in the service of your employer throughout your secondment and continue to be paid by that employer rather than Eurojust. Eurojust does not provide health insurance, although you may be eligible for a subsistence allowance and travel expenses.


You can apply to work as an SNE at Eurojust if you are employed by a national, regional or local public administration, inter-governmental organisation, independent university or research organisation, or the public sector in an EU Member State. Prior authorisation by your employer is an essential pre-condition for secondment to Eurojust.

If you wish to apply for a secondment position at Eurojust, you must apply to a vacancy on the eRecruitment site. Eurojust does not accept applications submitted by any other means (e.g. email or post), or any speculative applications.

Selection and Interview

All eligible applications will be considered by the Selection Board and scored against the essential and advantageous criteria outlined in this vacancy notice. The Selection Board will draw up a shortlist of candidates to be invited to an (online) interview and/or written test. Applicants invited to the interview must be able to provide copies of all the supporting documents concerning their educational qualifications and employment record.

Following the (online) interview and written test, the Selection Board will make a proposal to the Administrative Director on the establishment of a reserve list of suitable candidate. Inclusion in the reserve list does not guarantee recruitment. Eurojust has the right to disqualify applicants who fail to submit all the required documents by the date of the interview.
