The Romanian Desk is headed by Emilia Ioana Lionte, who is the National Member for Romania.

In 2025, the Romanian Desk was involved in 493 new cases, 130 coordination meetings, 1 coordination centre and 76 joint investigation teams.

Ms Emilia Ioana Lionte

Ms Emilia Ioana Lionte was appointed National Member for Romania in May 2026. Ms Lionte has extensive experience as a prosecutor both at national and international levels. She is part of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice- the National Anticorruption Directorate, a specialised prosecutorial office holding exclusive jurisdiction over severe corruption offences.

Ms Lionte has also been working in the field of international cooperation since 2012. She was appointed national expert within the European Court of Human Rights, in Strasbourg, France. In 2023 she was seconded as trial lawyer within the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, in The Hague, Netherlands.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in law from University of Bucharest and a Master's degree from Strasbourg University’s Faculty of Law. She graduated from the Romanian National Institute of Magistracy.
