On Friday, 8 October 2021, Eurojust invites you to its second Virtual Open Day, with unique insights into the work of the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation at its headquarters in The Hague.
This event is part of the Just Peace Month, an initiative of the Municipality of The Hague to highlight the important work of international organisations and their contribution towards global peace, justice and freedom.
Eurojust will open its virtual doors on 8 October between 10.00 and 13.30 CEST for a morning session and an afternoon session. You will receive the connection details via email 24 to 48 hours prior to the event.
Morning session (10.00-12.00)
The morning session features a talk with of our colleague Silke Schönfleisch-Backofen. Prior to joining the Agency, she worked for 12 years as a prosecutor in Frankfurt, Germany, where she specialised in murder cases, combating organised crime groups and investigating serious economic crime cases. She will share the story of her passion for justice and how she managed to overcome challenges during her career. Silke will also explain what makes Eurojust such a special workplace.
After that, it is time for a closer look at the Agency’s mission. A panel of experts from the dedicated Eurojust crime teams will discuss how judicial cooperation works in practice. Terrorism, trafficking in human beings, economic crimes, cybercrime – the challenges in fighting these crime types are as different as the crime types themselves. How does Eurojust support and coordinate the work of national authorities? And why does this help in making Europe a safer place?
Afternoon session (12.15-13.30)
The afternoon session will focus on career opportunities. Representatives of the Human Resources Unit will talk about the different job profiles at Eurojust and show you why the Agency is a workplace like no other. As in all other sessions, you are welcome to actively participate: please use the chat function to ask your questions. We will gladly answer them in a Q&A at the end of each session.
