The Hague, 04 August 2015

Eurojust is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Piia Vottonen as the National Member for Finland at Eurojust. Ms Vottonen officially took up her duties at Eurojust on 1 August.

Ms Vottonen has worked as a District Prosecutor since 1995 and has specialised in drug crime and organised crime since 2001. Ms Vottonen is also a member of a group of prosecutors responsible for training drug crime investigators, judges and prosecutors. Ms Vottonen is a member of the European Network for Prosecutors for Synthetic Drugs & Precursors (ENPSDP) and a deputy member of the Precursor Network of the Pompidou Group.

‘It is with great pleasure I take up my new post as the National Member of Finland at Eurojust. Having worked for many years as a District Prosecutor, specialising in drug crime and organised crime, it is an honour to continue my career working with an organisation that has proved to effectively fight serious, cross-border organised crime. I look forward to assisting Eurojust with their important mission and dealing with the challenges ahead. I am also eager to start working with my new colleagues and I feel fortunate to be supported by such an excellent team,’ said Ms Vottonen.

In 2014, the Finnish National Desk at Eurojust registered 56 cases (2013: 41), and organised or was involved in 21 (2013: 12) coordination meetings.
