Eurojust is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Piia Vottonen as the National Member for Finland at Eurojust. Ms Vottonen officially took up her duties at Eurojust on 1 August.
Ms Vottonen has worked as a District Prosecutor since 1995 and has specialised in drug crime and organised crime since 2001. ‘It is with great pleasure I take up my new post as the National Member of Finland at Eurojust. Having worked for many years as a District Prosecutor, specialising in drug crime and organised crime, it is an honour to continue my career working with an organisation that has proved to effectively fight serious, cross-border organised crime. I look forward to assisting Eurojust with their important mission and dealing with the challenges ahead. I am also eager to start working with my new colleagues and I feel fortunate to be supported by such an excellent team,’ said Ms Vottonen.
In 2014, the Finnish National Desk at Eurojust registered 56 cases (2013: 41), and organised or was involved in 21 (2013: 12) coordination meetings.
