The Hague, 03 August 2015
Eurojust is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Gabriela Hornbeck as the National Member for Austria at Eurojust. Ms Hornbeck officially took up her duties at Eurojust on 1 August.
Ms Hornbeck takes up her post following almost two years as a member of the Austrian National Desk. She joined the Austrian judiciary in 2003 and was appointed as a judge in 2007. Since that time, Ms Hornbeck has been in charge of penal law cases, specialising in international and EU law. From January 2011 until May 2013, she worked as Criminal Justice Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Austria to the European Union in Brussels.
‘I am very pleased to be able to contribute to Eurojust’s work as National Member for Austria. My appointment also recognises the work of the staff of the Austrian Desk during a very interesting and challenging period. The significant increase in casework in the last year, both for the organisation and the Austrian Desk, shows that Eurojust’s efforts are recognised and appreciated. I look forward to continuing the excellent work of my predecessor and assisting Eurojust in fighting serious cross-border crime,’ said Ms Hornbeck.
In 2014, the Austrian National Desk at Eurojust registered 127 cases (2013: 94), and organised or was involved in 21 (2013: 22) coordination meetings.
