On 1 November 2013, Mr Petter Sodal was appointed Liaison Prosecutor for Norway at Eurojust, in accordance with Article 5 of the Agreement between the Kingdom of Norway and Eurojust signed on 28 April 2005.
Mr Sodal began his career as a police officer and investigator in Oslo in 1983. After obtaining a degree in law from the University of Oslo in 1991, he worked as a public prosecutor in various branches of the Public Prosecution Service in Telemark until his appointment as Liaison Prosecutor at Eurojust.
Since 2000, Mr Sodal has worked on a range of serious crimes in his role as District Public Prosecutor in Vestfold and Telemark.
Mr Sodal said the following on his appointment as Liaison Prosecutor: “I am privileged to have the opportunity to serve as the Liaison Prosecutor for Norway at Eurojust. The Norwegian Desk is very active and will provide a stimulating environment and present many new challenges. The volume of work experienced at the Norwegian Desk also shows that the role of Liaison Prosecutor is a worthy one, and I look forward to continuing the work of my predecessor in maintaining close cooperation with our partners in the European Union through the invaluable work of Eurojust.”
