The Hague, 11 April 2011
OLAF, in co-operation with Eurojust, hosted a meeting last Friday with judicial authorities from Belgium, Austria, Slovenia and Romania on the ongoing investigations into some Members of the European Parliament (MEP).
Following press information that gave rise to suspicions that some MEPs could have agreed to receive money in exchange for tabling legislative amendments, OLAF opened an administrative investigation.
OLAF, in co-operation with Eurojust, hosted on its premises a meeting with the national prosecutors investigating the same allegations, in order to exchange views and continue effective cooperation. OLAF has been glad to provide its contribution to this cooperation.
“With parallel investigations ongoing, it is of utmost importance that all authorities involved at both European and Member State level work together in the best possible way,” said OLAF Director-General Giovanni Kessler.
