13th annual meeting of the national experts on joint investigation teams
17 - 18 May 2017, Eurojust, The Hague
The JITs Network: achievements and future developments
The JITS Network has developed and consolidated its role as an important platform of expertise in the field of JITs, both within and outside the European Union.
To improve the functioning of the JITs Network to enable it to face future challenges, a two-day meeting, co-organised by Eurojust and Europol, will be held at Eurojust. The meeting begins at 09:30 on Wednesday 17 May and ends at 14:45 on Thursday 18 May. The latest operational developments in the field will be reviewed and discussed.
Opening remarks will be made by Michèle Coninsx, President of Eurojust, and Julia Viedma, Head of Horizontal Operational Services, Europol. After the plenary session, three workshops will be held: (1) The JITs expert: new roles, new perspectives; (2) The partners of the JITs Network; and (3) What framework for JITs Network activities and projects? A film by director Olivier Ballande, Marriages for sale, will be screened, in the context of an exchange of views on raising awareness of JITs and the role of the JITs Network in this respect.
The plenary session will continue, with a discussion on possible improvements in the exchange of evidence within a JIT, an update on network projects and a presentation of the outcome of the workshops.
The meeting will be attended by practitioners from the Member States, the European Commission, the Council, the European Parliament and other stakeholders.
