Today, the First Prosecutor of Basel-Stadt, Mr Alberto Fabbri, paid a courtesy visit to Eurojust and met with the President, Ms Michèle Coninsx, and with the National Members for Germany, France and Italy. Mr Fabbri was accompanied by the Liaison Prosecutor for Switzerland, Ms Maria Schnebli.
Mr Fabbri, a police officer by training, worked at the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland as a federal prosecutor from October 2001 to December 2010 in the Unit for International Cooperation. During this time, he was seconded to the Special Court for Sierra Leone in Freetown as a special prosecutor for six months in 2004. He was then nominated as First Prosecutor in Basel in January 2011.
Mr Fabbri has a Master of Advanced Studies in International Criminal Law from the University of Bern and is also a lecturer in international criminal law at the University of Basel.
