Michel Dominique Reveyrand-de Menthon, the EU Special Representative (EUSR) for the Sahel, visited Eurojust on 2 December.
In a meeting with the Vice-President of Eurojust, Mr Francisco Jiménez-Villarejo, the EUSR enquired about the crime types handled by Eurojust involving third
States and particularly the countries of the Sahel region. In the past
decade, the increasing instability in the Sahel region has been a source of
growing concern for the European Union, as organised crime could have a
destabilizing effect on the region. Mr Jiménez-Villarejo provided the EUSR with
data collected at Eurojust on cases involving countries of the Sahel region, as
well as on the specific crime types. Eurojust will continue to monitor those
trends and provide Mr Reveyrand-de Menthon with regular updates.
